Uninaquam
The UNINAQUAM project was born from the need of the University of Naples Federico II, as "managing body" (ref. Legislative Decree 31/01 and D.D. 27 of 16 February 2005), to carry out the control and monitoring of drinking water distributed within the University facilities. The main purpose is to guarantee a high quality of water supplied to users (staff and students), in order to minimize the risk associated with the use of mains drinking water (tap water) and reduce the consumption of bottled mineral water, thus reducing the costs associated with the purchase, as well as with the disposal of plastic waste.

The most recent event was held on March 24th, 2025.

Party for Chemistry
The Chemistry Festival of the Department of Chemical Sciences celebrates Chemistry with the participation of illustrious figures and graduates of the DSC's courses, who, thanks to their testimonies, create a sense of community in the audience of DSC students.
The most recent event was organized in December 2024 and then postponed to a date to be defined.
Other third mission activities
The Department of Chemical Sciences is active in public engagement activities.
• In this context, some professors of the Department of Chemical Sciences have created the Neapolitan Coordination "Women in Science", an association made up of researchers from the University "Federico II" and public research institutions, which aims to promote positive actions to increase the presence of women in research and scientific careers. It was created with the aim of promoting positive actions to address the problem of the poor representation of women in research and scientific careers, which produces not only social injustice but also a significant waste of human resources. The Department of Chemical Sciences also participates in GENOVATE, an action-research project that aims to address gender inequality in research. The project has outlined several areas of intervention that concern the working life of researchers, from recruitment, to career progression, reconciliation with family life and the desire to enhance diversity as a source of enrichment both in research and innovation. Six European universities with different experiences in approaching the gender issue are participating in GENOVATE.
