Erasmus Italiano

Erasmus Italiano

MSC DEGREE IN CHEMICAL SCIENCES

Master of Science (M. Sc.) in Chemical Sciences (Italian Classification of Master Degrees LM-54)

The CdS in Chemical Sciences aims to integrate and deepen the knowledge acquired in the field of chemical sciences during the  Bachelor Degree  through a system (ordinamento) that adapts flexibly to the student's educational needs and to the demands of the various stakeholders and the labor market. For the purposes indicated, the CdS in Chemical Sciences aims to train professional figures with knowledge and understanding skills that allow them to develop and/or appropriately apply both consolidated and original concepts, methodologies and ideas, also in a context of research and innovation.

The M. Sc. in Chemical Sciences has been awarded the European "Chemistry Euromaster Label". The course credits are recognized by all European academic institutions associated with the Chemistry Quality Eurolabels, granting a wide employability among European countries.

Type of Degree: Second cycle degree/Two-year Master - 120 ECTS.

Program Coordinator: Prof. Antonello Merlino (ccdscienzechimiche@unina.it)

Program description:

The prerogatives of the educational path are therefore:

a) A solid preparation common to all students in the fields of analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry.

b) A wide and flexible choice of courses within related or complementary activities, offering elective courses in areas of particular relevance and newness, such as chemistry for the environment and cultural heritage, sustainable chemistry, chemistry for energy production, chemistry of biomolecules or methodologies of modeling, synthesis and catalysis, chemistry of materials and biomaterials, structural engineering and molecular recognition.

c) An internship in companies, public research institutions, public administration, structures and laboratories, as well as study periods at other Italian and European universities.

d) A significant time dedicated to the experimental thesis, which engages the student in an advanced research project developed with originality and increasing degree of autonomy.

The program allows for two differentiated curricula, both in core and elective courses, to explore areas such as molecular design, structure-property relationships, and structural characterization at various dimensional scales. The educational offering is available in both Italian and English.
